Abstract

Secondary abstract: Poetry of Mila Kačič and Ciril Zlobec is not based solely on love and their opus consists of many topics. While its true both poets converge towards love poetry it is not limited to poetry of spiritual love. Entanglement of emotional and sensual perspectives raises a question how to diferentiate erotic and love poetry what may be difficult to do for the fact that love poetry always manages to steer away from strict definitions. There are three possible interweaving ways love can manifests itself in poetry: confessions of love (and admiration of a loved one), expressing emotions deriving from love (pain, joy, frustration, yearning etc.) and contemplation (which I eliminate from love poetry for it does not belong to spiritual poetry but to reflexive one). Further on I mainly focus on how both poets profess their love where I try to emphasize the content of experiencing feelings of love. Surrendering to one another and profound care for a loved one really stand out in both of them although their moods are very different - poetry of Mila Kačič gravitates towards pessimism while Ciril Zlobec's poetry is overwhelmed with optimism and vitalism.
