diplomsko delo
Abstract

The thesis deals with two postmodern works that were created in the 80s of the 20th century, the Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco and Perfume by Patrick Suskind. Both novels were by the readers accepted so well that they were made into film, Name of the Rose was directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud, Perfume was directed by Tom Tykwer. The first part of the thesis focuses on the period of postmodernism, which is justified on grounds of major literary theorists of that era; especially Umberto Eco and Viktor Žmegac. In the second part the thesis presents novels itselfs, their main characteristics and response of critics and audience. The third part focuses on a postmodernist film adaptation of the novel, and presents as well as the beginnings of postmodernism on television. |
