Abstract

Koncept regeneracije degradiranih industrijskih območij v mestu je ena izmed vodilnih idej trajnostnega razvoja mest. Mariborsko Melje predstavlja s svojimi izjemnimi lokacijskimi lastnostmi, prometno povezanostjo in tudi zgodovinskim pomenom več kot idealno lokacijo za novo urbano strukturo, ki bo približala Melje staromeščanskemu centru Maribora in hkrati ustvarila prostor, ki bo omogočal nadaljnji trajnostni razvoj mesta. Cilj te magistrske naloge je bil izpostaviti morebitno rešitev problematike mestnega prostora območja nekdanje vojašnice Melje. Pokazali smo različne arhitekturno-urbanistične posege, ki sežejo od revitalizacije degradiranih prostorov do vzpostavljanja novih programov in umeščanja nove strukture stavbe pokrajinskega arhiva, ki ne rešuje le problem Melja, temveč tudi mesta Maribor v celoti.

Secondary abstract:	The concept of regeneration of industrial areas within cities is one of key visions of sustainable developement of cities. Maribor’s Melje, with its remarcable geoeconomical location, transport connections and historical importance, is an ideal location for new urban structure. That structure is to connect Melje to the medieval city center and create a space, which will enable further sustainable developement of the city. The main goal of this masther thesis is to imply a possible solution to a problem that resolves around former military barracks Melje. We have presented different architectural and urban actions, that range from revitalisation of degraded urban areas to the placement of a completely new structure of the regional archive building. Those actions are not only solving the problem of Melje, nevertheless, they improve the city of Maribor as a whole.
