Abstract

Secondary title: The advanced driver assistance system adaptive cruise control (acc)
Secondary abstract: The number of vehicles on the roads is constantly increasing, everyday commutes are getting longer, traffic jams occur regularly, traffic accidents with fatal outcome or serious injuries, most often caused by a human factor – due to drivers’ lack of attention – are also frequent. Legislation helps to limit and prevent traffic accidents by introducing measures for raising awareness and educating road users; at the same time, the development of modern technologies, whose performance is evaluated based on tests, also greatly assists drivers on the road. In addition to improved engines, braking systems and bodywork, the improvements and developments of assistant safety systems, such as active driver-assistance systems, also play an important role. The diploma thesis focuses on assistant safety systems and further explains the functioning and role of the adaptive cruise control (ACC) system that prevents rear-end collisions. The importance of this system was emphasised, as it is crucial for the protection of safety and people’s lives, therefore it would be necessary to include the ACC system as part of standard equipment in each vehicle. We conducted a survey on general knowledge about assistive systems, in particular the ACC system, and obtained opinions on the importance of assistive systems as standard equipment in passenger cars without any surcharge and then analysed it.
