diplomsko delo visokošolskega študijskega programa Informacijska varnost
Abstract

Police informants |
Secondary abstract: |
We live in a world where crime will always be present and will spread and evolve if we won't stop it. That's what police is for. But even countless policeman and all the efforts and resources going into discovering, investigating and preventing, this won’t be enough. There are always going to be some cases, where using police informants is necessary to catch the criminals responsible for the crimes that were committed.
The thesis defines what kind of police work is working undercover as a police informant and what kind of dangers they are facing.
The police use informants when other police methods aren’t efficient for gathering evidence for suspicion of committing criminal offenses of suspects who are being investigated. For the job of a police informant the police can choose any person that has or had any contact with a suspect or have information about the suspects criminal activities and could still be able to provide key evidence in the future.
An informant can also be a police officer or an investigator who voluntary accept a job working undercover, we call this kind of informants’ undercover agents. Their mission is far from easy since they have to infiltrate a criminal gang, get all the necessary evidence for an arrest or arrest and also successfully survive the time being undercover. What makes their task even harder is that they are all on their own, so if anything goes wrong or if his cover is compromised they will have to rely only on themselves alone. |
