Abstract
Podatki so bili analizirani s pomočjo programa IBM SPSS Statistics. Uporabljeni so bili Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, Mann-Whitneyev U-test, Kruskal-Wallisov H-test, Wilcoxonov test, faktorska analiza in Spearmanov koeficient korelacije.

Secondary abstract: |
Introduction: Safety assurance in social welfare institutions for the elderly is a great challenge as well as the key component of social care and health care of the elderly. The purpose of the study was to determine the assessment of safety culture among employees in Slovenia and Austria.
Research methodology: The survey included 120 employees in social welfare institutions in Slovenia and Austria. A standardized survey questionnaire for monitoring safety culture was used. The research was conducted from December 2017 to February 2018. Data were analyzed with the IBM SPSS Statistics. Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal-Wallis H test, Wilcoxon test, factor analysis and the Spearman’s correlation test were used.
Results: The results show that the overall assessment of safety culture among employees in Austrian social welfare institutions is higher than in Slovenian institutions (U = 1019,00, Z = –2,056, p = 0,040). We also found that two of eleven statements show a difference in the assessment of communication between employees according to their years of employment. There are statistically significant correlations between the components of the assessment of work and the assessment of safety culture in social welfare institutions; however, the correlation is negative in one half of the cases and positive in the other half.
Conclusion: Promoting safety culture in health care has become one of the pillars of safe treatment of patients. We need to create a positive culture that promotes open communication and cooperation, a systematic approach, skilled employees and good management. |
