diplomsko delo

Abstract

Secondary title: Nocturnal enuresis in child
Secondary abstract: Introduction: Bedwetting or night enuresis is unintentional leakage of urine during sleeping in otherwise perfectly healthy child aged over five years. About 10% of children at the age of five have problems with night enuresis. Purpose: The purpose of diploma work is to describe the problem of night enuresis based on professional and scientific literature. Methods: Descriptive method of work is used in this diploma work with a review of professional and scientific literature in the field of urology, pediatrics and psychiatry regarding night enuresis in child. Results: Children with night enuresis problems have frequent psychosocial problems. In Slovenia, two equivalent methods are used to treat night enuresis: pharmacological treatment and treatment with an alarm. In addition, behavioral therapy, waking up child during night, fluid restriction and rewarding with positive stimulation are recommended. Parents who experience night enuresis in children may experience social exclusion, anxiety and depression. Discussion and conclusion: In our area, we focus primarily on pharmacological treatment, treatment with alarm and limitation of fluid. Less is known about the psychological impact of night enuresis on the child and family and on other non-pharmacological treatments. Care for a child and a family who faces night enuresis should be more comprehensive.
