Secondary title: | Choosing the most suitable material handling system in a manufacturing plant producing moulded components for the automotive industry |
Secondary abstract: | In this master's thesis we present decision trees, which are used in determining the most suitable material handling system in a manufacturing plant. Decisions depend on the choice of the parameters within the manufacturing plant. As a basis for our research we chose a manufacturing plant producing moulded parts for the automotive industry. Using computer simulation, we create models for various material handling systems and optimize them. Depending on the choice of parameters we simulate multiple scenarios. The statistical data from the simulations is used to analyse the influence the choice of parameters has on the material handling systems. A cost-benefit analysis of all the scenarios is then performed using the data from simulations and data on material handling equipment. The analysis results are used to produce the decision trees for various types of shift work. |
