Abstract

Secondary title: Microalgae as a source of sun protection compounds
Secondary abstract: This thesis in the first part includes an overview of harmful effects of UV radiation and UV filters, which are used in sunscreens. It also includes an overview of microalgal adaptation to UV radiation and protective effects of microalgae compounds as an alternative to UV filters. In the second part of the thesis the experimental results are shown. S. cerevisiae yeast was used as a model organism on which we examined the potential change in survival after pretreatment with extracts of microalgae A. platensis and after exposure to UV radiation.
