Abstract

Po prvi svetovni vojni je Maribor pripadel Kraljevini SHS. Mesto je že kmalu postalo pravo središče različnih kultur, ki so vsaka s svojim delovanjem prispevale h kulturnemu mozaiku mesta. H kulturni razpoznavnosti mesta so prispevali Primorci, ki so pribežali tja pred fašističnim terorjem, in tudi Nemci. Ti so bili vsaj do srede tridesetih let v glavnem strpni do nove oblasti. S svojim kulturnim delovanjem pa so bogatili tudi Slovence. Poleg Nemcev so tudi drugi narodi v mestu, predvsem Čehi, Rusi, Hrvati in Srbi, s svojim kulturnim deležem pomagali k pravi svetovljanski podobi mesta. Prav narodno mešana družba je dajala mestu pravi čar. Vrsta gledaliških odrov s predstavami v različnih jezikih, pevski nastopi številnih društev, številne dobro založene knjižnice, številna predavanja, razstave itn. – zaradi vsega tega je Maribor v tridesetih letih postal mesto, povsem primerljivo s podobnimi mesti v takratni Srednji Evropi

Secondary title: Cultural pulse in Maribor during World Wars
Secondary abstract: After the Second World War Maribor came under the Kingdom of SHS. The city soon became a real center of different cultures that contributed to the cultural mosaic of the town. Residents of Primorska (Primorci) who fled before fascist terror and also Germans contributed to the cultural recognisability. At least until the mid-thirties they were mostly tolerant of the new authority, and they enrichened the Slovenes with their cultural activities. Besides the Germans the other nations in the city, especially the Czechs, the Russians, the Croats and the Serbs, helped create a true cosmopolitan image of the city with their cultural contribution. It was the nationally mixed society that gave the city its real charm. A series of theatre stages featuring performances in different languages, singing performances by different societies, numerous well-stocked libraries, lectures, exhibitions, etc., all this made the city of Maribor comparable with similar cities in Central Europe.
