Abstract

V uvodnem delu so predstavljena muzeološka izhodišča in muzej, v nadaljevanju smo se posvetili otroškemu muzeju in njegovemu razvoju v Sloveniji in Evropi.

Secondary title: Conceptual design of children's museum in Maribor
Secondary abstract: The purpose of the Master's Thesis is to present a children's museum and develop its conceptual design. The museum, first and foremost intended for children, would be in Maribor. With it the city would gain additional value: at the same time tourism and the number of visitors, not only children but also adults, would rise. The introductory part presents the museology and the museum; in the continuation we focused on the children's museum and its development in Slovenia and Europe. The only children's museum in Slovenia is located in Celje - Hermanov brlog. Due to the new social role of museums many general museums in Slovenia have also begun to consider children. For that purpose, they have developed programmes for the youngest visitors. A children's museum differs from other museums. Its essence is learning through games; therefore, the activities are designed to stir children's interest. Children's museums do not only offer learning, they also represent an important place where families can spend some quality free time. In the second part. we developed a conceptual design of a children's museum - the conceptual design of exhibitions, programmes and collections, which would offer active learning performed by museum educators and curators. Their primary role would be to stimulate in young visitors the perception of cultural, natural and artistic heritage in an interesting, playful and attractive way.The conceptual design includes both museological concepts, the traditional and the modern. This seemed reasonable because the very interlacement of concepts gives children a possibility to not only gain new knowledge, but also cooperate in different activities. For the best operation of the children's museum, we must also consider teaching means, methods and forms of work, which differ according to the visitors' age.
