delo diplomskega projekta

Abstract

Secondary title: Analysis of data scientist's competences on a case of e-business study at Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Maribor
Secondary abstract: Big data and data science are recognized by organizations as a competitive advantage. Demands for new ways of analyzing data also create demands for new skills and professions, such as a data scientist. After reviewing the literature, we defined big data as well as the profession of data scientist, and extracted the main knowledge that the data scientist needed. Along with a more detailed presentation of competencies, we also presented some subjects of e-business study at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Maribor, in which we acquire knowledge related to the competences of a data scientist. The purpose of the project was to perform a comparative analysis and to determine the extent to which e-business covers the competencies of a data scientist. Based on the assessments, we found that the study does not cover all competences. The lack of knowledge is mainly due to programming and machine learning. We have also added some recommendations on how to bring e-business study closer to the profession of data scientist.
