Abstract

Secondary title: Analysis of the possibility of upgrading the existing conventional milling with the trochoidal technology
Secondary abstract: In the tool technology processes new technologies are constantly being developed to increase productivity and reduce processing costs. One of these is the trochoidal milling technology where high speed feeds and the use of the entire tool spiral have a beneficial effect on machining speed and tool wear. In this work we made a comparison between conventional milling and trochoidal milling on a real life product. For both machining types we analysed the processing times, the tool wear and the processing forces. The results were then compared with each other. We found that the forces during the trochoidal milling are much lower than in conventional machining. Also the tool wear was much lower. It also turned out that the processing time of the trochoidal milling was shorter but the difference here was less than expected.
