Abstract

Metode: Literaturo smo zbrali s pomočjo elektronskih baz podatkov PubMED, MEDLINE, GOOGLE SCHOLAR, COBISS in Cochrane Library.

Secondary title: A biopsychosocial approach of treating low back pain
Secondary abstract: Introduction and purpose: Low back pain (LBP) is one of the most common syndromes. Most therapeutic treatments are based on medical view that sees pain only as a physical illness and do not consider psychosocial aspects. The purpose of the diploma work is to identify the most important psychosocial risk factors and examine the effectiveness of the procedures that are focused on LBP elimination, including biopsychosocial (BPS) approach. Methods: The literature search was made by using electronic databases PubMED, MEDLINE, GOOGLE SCHOLAR, COBISS and Cochrane Library. Results: Pain and pain pathways are associated with psychosocial factors and with development of chronicity. Procedures aimed at addressing the most important psychosocial risk factors are effective in treating non-specific LBP and preventing chronic development. An overview of the effectiveness of the multidisciplinary BPS approach shows only small differences in pain and disability in patients with non-specific LBP. Usability: The diploma work is intended for those who want to become acquainted with the performance of biopsychosocial model (BPSM).
