Abstract

Z industrializacijo je zelo narastla količina odpadkov in pojavil se je problem ravnanja z njimi. Sežig odpadkov kot način ravnanja z odpadki obstaja že več kot stoletje, skoraj toliko časa pa obstaja tudi pridobivanje energije s sežigom odpadkov. Vse od začetka je sežiganje odpadkov učinkovit način uničevanja odpadkov, vendar je bil zelo dolgo daleč od okolju prijaznega. V šestdesetih letih dvajsetega stoletja so se začela pojavljati prva vprašanja v zvezi z vplivom sežiga odpadkov na okolje in ljudi. Šele konec osemdesetih let so se dejansko začele delati velike spremembe in od takrat je postal sežig odpadkov veliko bolj varen kot nekoč. Kljub zelo velikemu napredku pa se mora razvoj sežiga odpadkov in čiščenja dimnih plinov nadaljevati.

Secondary abstract: With industrialization, the amount of waste has increased dramatically, and thus the problem of waste management has arisen. Solid waste incineration exists for more than a century now and almost as long energy form waste exist. From the beginning waste incineration was an efficient way of solid waste treatment, however it had been far form environment friendly. In the sixties first questions appeared about incinerations impact on environment and humans. Only in the late eighties significant changes were made and since than solid waste incineration became a lot safer. Despite the progress, the development of waste incineration and flue gas cleaning must continue.
