Abstract

Skozi vsa ta poglavja smo podrobneje predstavili železniški promet in razvoj le tega skozi zgodovino. Slovenske železnice so edini ponudnik in izvajalec železniških storitev v Republiki Sloveniji.

Secondary title: Impact of globalization on transit freight traffic of Slovenian Railways
Secondary abstract: In the master’s thesis we dealt with the impact of globalization on the transit freight traffic of Slovenian Railways. At the beginning of the thesis, we defined the purpose, goals, hypotheses, assumptions and limitations of the research and presented the research methods we used when writing it. The master's thesis consists of several chapters. In these, we discussed the role and importance of globalization, transport, transit traffic, railway transport, TEN-T network, Slovenian Railways and, of course, the impact of globalization on the transit freight traffic of Slovenian Railways. Throughout all these chapters, we have presented in more detail the railway transport and its development throughout history. At the beginning of the thesis, we described globalization, its impact, types and consequences of globalization. Then we tackled the traffic, which we described in more details and included many of the subchapters that belong to it. In this section, we also described transit traffic; we also described in more details railway transport and the TEN-T network running through Slovenia. With the help of Slovenian Railways, we were able to corroborate the findings from the theoretical part with practical examples. Slovenian Railways is the only railway service provider and performer in the Republic of Slovenia. In this way, they take care of all the rail services that operate throughout Slovenia. They also take care of those to whom Slovenia is only an intermediate country to its final destination. Based on information obtained from the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia, we were able to confirm our assumptions that we had at the beginning of the thesis.
