Abstract

Uvod: Zdrava prehrana in gibanje sta temelj zdravega načina življenja. K temu pa gotovo sodi tudi zajtrk. Vse več ljudi ga izpušča zaradi lepotnih idealov vitkosti – odrasli in otroci. Literatura je bila iskana v angleškem jeziku s ključnimi besedami: healthy lifestyle, breakfast as a meal, what to eat for breakfast, breakfast and metabolism, breakfast nutrition, breakfast skipping, breakfast eating and prevention of obesity v podatkovnih bazah Cinahl, Medline, Cochrane in Digitalna knjižnica. Z zajtrkovanjem vzdržujemo dobro počutje, primerno telesno težo, kognitivne funkcije in preprečujemo nastanek nekaterih kroničnih bolezni, na primer debelosti in z njo povezanih bolezni.

More and more people are missing it out on beauty ideals of slimness – adults and children. Records show that breakfast helps to regulate body weight and improve cognitive function. However, nurses have an important role to play in raising awareness and health education. Purpose: The purpose of this diploma thesis is to present the field of healthy eating, the more specific role of breakfast and the preventive action of nurses. Methods: In the diploma thesis we used a descriptive method of work; we had made a literature review. We were looking for resources released after year 2000. Literature was searched in English language with keywords: healthy lifestyle, breakfast as a meal, what to eat for breakfast, breakfast and metabolism, breakfast nutrition, breakfast skipping, breakfast eating and obesity prevention in databases Cinahl, Medline, Cochrane and Digital Library. We have included 59 resources. Discussion and conclusion: Breakfast is an important component of a healthy lifestyle. We are supposed to enter micronutrients and macronutrients into the body, s well as some energy, that cannot be replaced later in the day. With breakfast we maintain well-being, suitable body weight, cognitive function and we prevent the occurrence of certain chronic diseases, such as obesity and related diseases. Nurses are an indispensable role in educating people about healthy eating and obesity prevention. However, good nursing education, which nurses are expected to provide, requires their continued education and training.
