Abstract

Secondary title: The Importance of Laboratory Test Measurements in Individual Time Trial Results in Road Cycling
Secondary abstract: The primary purpose of this thesis was to obtain and compare results of laboratory testing and measurements in real conditions - out in the field on a 10 kilometre individual time trial. In the starting phases of research, a specific laboratory testing protocol for individual time trial cyclists was prepared and carried out. In the second part of research, a simulation of racing conditions was carried out, where by monitoring parameters like gas exchange, blood lactate levels, measuring heart frequency and cyclists' strength we analysed and evaluated the work and exertion. With all the measurements and statistically evaluated data the research could contribute to a better understanding of how training processes influence competitive success of professional cyclists.
