Razvoj medijev in trendi plačilnih praks skozi zgodovino

od blagovne menjave do kriptovalut

Abstract

V magistrskem delu bom predstavila razvoj medijev in plačilnih praks od prvih človeških civilizacij do danes. Podrobneje bom predstavila nastanek in razvoj interneta ter kriptovalut, hkrati pa opisala pomembna procesa mediatizacije in digitalizacije. Cilj magistrskega dela je ugotoviti, ali obstaja medsebojna povezanost področij razvoja medijev in plačilnih praks, ki močno vplivajo na naše vsakdanje življenje. Komentirala bom tudi zastavljeni tezi, da je razvoj medijev ključno pripomogel pri oblikovanju in spremembi plačilnih praks tekom časa in da so kriptovalute novost, s katero uporabniki lahko hitro zaslužijo ali izgubijo denar, hkrati pa so potencialna valuta, ki ponekod že izpodriva doslej ustaljene plačilne prakse. S pomočjo intervjujev, opravljenih z uporabniki kriptovalut, bom predstavila prakse in stališča kripto uporabnikov ter njihov pogled na kriptosvet ter razvoj tehnologije v prihodnosti. Zadnji del bo namenjen izpostavitvi ključnih ugotovitev, kot so, da sta razvoj medijev in plačilnih praks vsekakor tesno povezana in potekata vzporedno, da so kriptovalute še neraziskano področje z velikim potencialom, kljub vsemu pa v takšni obliki, kot obstajajo sedaj, ne bodo prevzele mesta fiat valut oziroma ne bodo postale ustaljene plačilne prakse.

Secondary title:	Media development and payment practices through the history: from barter to cryptocurrencies
Secondary abstract:	In my master's thesis, I will present the development of media and payment practices from the first human civilizations to the present day. I will also describe in more detail the emergence and development of the Internet and cryptocurrency while outlining the important processes of media and digitization. The aim of the master's thesis is to find out whether there are correlations between media development and payment practices that have a profound impact on our daily lives. I will also comment further on both topics being, media development as a key contributor to the creation and modification of payment practices over time and, that cryprocurrencies are a novelty where users can quickly earn or lose money while being a potential currency, that in some places already supersedes current payment methods. Through interviews conducted with cryptocurrency users, I will present their practices and viewpoints, as well as their perspective on cryprocurrency and technology development in the future. In the final section, key findings will be highlighted, such as that the development of media and payment practices being closely linked, that cryptocurrencies are still an unexplored area with great potential, yet they will not take the place of the currently existing fiat currencies and will not become a standard payment practice.
