magistrsko delo
Abstract
V magistrskem delu je predstavljeno kaznovanje otrok s strani staršev v Sloveniji.
V teoretičnem delu smo opredelili pojem nasilje, vzgoja in vzgojni ukrepi.
Ciljna populacija so bili starši v RS.

In my master´s thesis, the punishment of children by their parents in Slovenia is presented. In the theoretical part, we determined the concept of violence, upbringing, and educational measures. The offenders of violence against children are presented as well. We determined the upbringing approaches, educational measures, and explained what is the effect of the punishment on a child.
Throughout history, children were guided to appropriate behavior with threats and punishments. When a child is punished, it seems that the punishment works (Gray, 2002). On the other hand, a child who is physically punished does not think what he did wrong and how to fix that. He thinks about how evil and unfair his parents are. The punishment of children is only reasonable when a child knows what he did wrong. In the process of upbringing, parents should not punish the child physically, use threats, scare children, and generally, they are not allowed to give them a feeling that a grown-up person is their enemy. The upbringing should be based on teaching a child, not on punishment (Siegel in Payne Bryson, 2016).
The empirical part of my master´s thesis is based on primary research. We gained the information by a web questionnaire. We gained information by the snowball principle. The target population was parents in Slovenia. By means of different analyses, we found out that in the case of child´s inappropriate behavior, the most appropriate educational measure according to parents is a conversation with a child. Boys and girls are not punished equally. However, there is no difference between men and women when giving punishment. What is more, we found out that physical punishment is more acceptable for parents who were not punished physically in their childhood. |
