Abstract

Interval merjenja hkrati pomeni količino in natančnost podatkov o uporabnikih in njihovih domovih. V diplomskem delu so prikazane ključne lastnosti pametnih merilnikov energije, njihove prednosti, tveganja in grožnje.

Secondary title: Smart energy meters and information security
Secondary abstract: Smart energy meters represent a step towards the modernization of power grids. They are devices designed to quickly, efficiently and reliably provide information on energy consumption of users to energy companies. Their simple task is of great importance in the world of information security. Smart energy meters measure energy consumption over an interval of 60 minutes to 1 minute, they can also measure every second or in real time. The efficiency and reliability of the network depends on the measurement interval. The interval of measurement simultaneously means the quantity and accuracy of information about users and their homes. With data on energy consumption, you can identify the activity of users, their absence or presence, and their habits. A survey was conducted in the framework of the research work, which was designed to acquire the knowledge of people about smart energy meters - in particular the awareness of people about potential threats posed by smart energy meters and whether people find the data that can be obtained from smart energy meters important. It was found that the awareness of people with smart meters in Slovenia is not high, but nevertheless they are aware of the importance of data on energy consumption and its protection. The survey also found that the respondents had a high deviation in the event that the energy company mismanaged their data and exploited them. The diploma thesis presents the key features of smart energy meters, their advantages, risks and threats. By reviewing literature and research, it has been found that energy consumption can tell a lot about people and their homes. Energy consumption data that is inadequately protected can be misused and used for various purposes which harm users.
