Abstract

V pričujočem diplomskem delu se ukvarjam s problematiko medgeneracijskega prenosa izvornega jezika in kulture pri prvi ter drugi generaciji priseljencevz območij nekdanje Jugoslavije, kamor uvrščam pripadnike Albancev, Bošnjakov, Hrvatov, Makedoncev in Srbov. Ob tem opisujem značilnosti oz. razlike med obema ciljnima skupinama na področju socializacije, oblikovanja njihove identitete, vključevanja v okolje ter usvajanja maternega jezika in jezika okolja. V empiričnem delu predstavljam osebne zgodbe šestih intervjuvancev obeh generacij priseljencev, ki so predstavili svoje prizadevanje za prenašanje izvornega jezika in kulture (svojih staršev) na svoje potomce. Rezultati so pokazali, da je za ohranjanje izvornega kulturnega izročila in jezika ključen stik z izvorno domovino, ki pa se s podaljševanjem časa bivanja v večinski kulturi izgublja. V večinski družbi je namreč nemogoče ohranjati svoja prvotna kulturo in jezik brez medsebojnega prepletanja ter ustvarjanja novih, "mešanih" kultur in novih, t. i. vmesnih jezikov.

Secondary abstract: In this diploma paper I deal with the problem of intergenerational transmission of the source language and culture in the first and second generation immigrants from areas of the former Yugoslavia, which ranks members of Albanians, Bosnians, Croats, Macedonians and Serbs. At the same time I describe the characteristics or differences between the two target groups in the field of socialization, creating their identity, community involvement and the acquisition of the mother tongue and the language of the environment. In the empirical part I present personal stories of six interviewed immigrants of both generations who have presented their efforts to transfer their first/mother language and culture (of their parents) to their progeny. The results have shown that the conservation of cultural heritage and the original language requires contacts with the source/first country, although people tend to depart from each other through a long period of staying in the majority culture. In mainstream society it is impossible to maintain their original culture and language without interlocking and creating a new "mixed" cultures and new "in-between" languages.
