Abstract

Secondary abstract: International organizations are institutions, established by diferrent organizations, institutions and individuals with the help of which they make their own or group interests happen on an international level. Thedevelopment of some international organizations, based on some authors, dates back in history, while some are of the opinion, that first real formations happened during the Vestfal peace. Nevertheless, all authors agree, that the blossoming of international organizations first appears in 20th Century, the reason for that were the events that took placed uring the 1st World War and mostly 2nd World War. International organization are divided by different criteria, depending on its founder, geographic criteria, field of activity, etc. According to the geographical criterion, regional and universal organizations are distinguished, which are also the main subjects of study in the diploma thesis. Each organization has its own structure and organs, goals and duties are defined in Charter of Incorporation. With joining to an international institution, the state loses part of soverigne rights and functions based on rules of organizations and it also has to respect Charter of Incorporation and legal acts. The diploma thesis will try to present the findings on functioning and membership of Slovenia in 21 selected universal international organizations, therefore those that are accessible for membership to all countries of the world. These include 15 United Nations specialized agencies.
