magistrsko delo Management v zdravstvu in socialnem varstvu
Abstract
Teoretična izhodišča. Uvedba gospodinjskih skupin v lokalno okolje je ključnega pomena za kakovost življenja starostnikov, saj ta oblika organiziranosti daje stanovalcem občutek domačnosti. Z magistrskim delom smo želeli ugotoviti zainteresiranost občanov in lokalne skupnosti v občinah Dobje, Šentjur, Celje in Nazarje za uvedbo gospodinjskih skupin.

The introduction of household groups in the local environment |

Theoretical background. The introduction of group homes in the local communities is important because it helps improve the quality of life of the elderly. The thesis investigates to what degree the residents of the municipalities of Dobje, Šentjur, Celje and Nazarje show interest in organizing group homes. We wanted to learn what the most appropriate location for a group home is, how well the elderly know how a group home operates and what activities the elderly miss in their everyday life.
Research methodology. We used an anonymous survey to investigate if people above the age of 60 want to organize a group home in their community and if they would participate in the activities, organized by the group homes. The survey included 20 questions that focused on four main topics—location of the group home, function of a group home, activities that the elderly miss in their lives and the environment they wish to spend their old-age in.
We interviewed the representatives of the local communities from the municipalities of Dobje, Nazarje, Šentjur and Celje—the mayor, representatives of the department for social activities and the representatives from the retirement community. We wanted to learn what they think about the institutional care within the group homes and the needs of the elderly.
Results. Our study included 105 elderly people above the age of 60. 42 % of the survey participants said they agree with the proposed location of the group home. The four interviewees—the leaders of the local communities—stated that they agree with the organization of a group home in the centre of the municipality. 33 % of the surveyed elderly people know very little about group homes and 30 % of the participants do not know about group homes. The interviewed leaders of the local communities think that by increasing public awareness people could learn more about group homes. 43 % of those participating in the survey would want to live out their old age independently and in their home. The leaders of the communities are aware of that, which is why they support the organization and expansion of group homes.
Conclusion. The study revealed the importance of organizing a group home. Our results will encourage the local communities to introduce new group homes. Furthermore, the results demonstrate the need for further government funding to support the organization of new group homes in the local communities. |
