diplomsko delo
Abstract

Preschool science experiments |

The diploma thesis entitled Experimentation for Preschool Children was written in the desire to incorporate experimentation into daily kindergarten activities. A handbook was prepared containing simple experiments and didactic instructions for conducting them. The handbook is useful for kindergarten teachers who often wonder which experiments are suitable for children of a certain age, and for the children themselves, because they can conduct some of the experiments on their own with the help of the didactic instructions. The theoretical section begins by presenting the characteristics of experimentation in the preschool period; it highlights the role of the teacher and the importance of asking productive questions, of suitable experiments, and of appropriate tools used to conduct them; in the end, it gives a few instructions on how to set up an experimentation corner. The practical section contains a handbook with 50 science experiments which are suitable for being conducted in kindergartens. The handbook includes didactic instructions which are appropriate for preschool children. Each experiment begins with a list of the tools and materials needed to conduct that experiment. The experiments which children can conduct on their own are marked with a green tick; the experiments which are more difficult and require adult supervision or help are marked with a red exclamation mark; the experiments marked with a black x require help from an adult. The thesis concludes with information about the making of the handbook. |
