magistrsko delo

Abstract

Secondary title: Narcissism of employees and its influence on the leadership style of the generation Y
Secondary abstract: Generation Y is the generation that is currently the most involved in the job market and its prevalence is increasing. Because of it organizations have changed. Generation Y is known as the generation of millennials, defined as the generation of technologies and the 'selfie' phenomenon. It has completely different values than the previous generations. Generation Y is often described as a group of narcissistic personalities with undeveloped social skills but with well-defined goals and expectations within an organization. In the master’s thesis we explained the presented issue and we focused on the influence of the narcissism of generation Y employees on an organization's leadership style. We wanted to understand how generation Y affect the organization and how they actually adapt to certain challenges. We also explained the challenges that human resource managers face when manage generation Y within an organization. The aim was to find out how to identify narcissistic person in the workplace and how to act properly and in accordance with regulations without destroying the organizational structure. The theoretic analysis of academic literature shows that generation Y has a significant impact on changes within companies. With analysis of the literature, we also found that representatives of Generation Y are narcissistically oriented, which represents a certain challenge for HR and managers. Representatives of generation Y have a lot of work motivation, but with higher level of narcissistic personality they represent a challenge for the whole organization, which on the other hand some authors present as an opportunity for the organisation.
