Abstract

Secondary title: Family cooperation is a key factor for success in early treatment of children with special needs
Secondary abstract: In the master's thesis, we identified the views of professionals and parents of children with special needs on the success of integrated early treatment of preschool children, including new legislation in this field, which came into force in January 2019. In the theoretical part we have presented the key areas that influence successful cooperation with the family, which is crucial for the success of comprehensive early treatment of children with special needs in the preschool period. An extremely important area is helping these families. We also touched on what are some of the obstacles of cooperation. We conducted an empirical study in Slovenian kindergartens in the field of satisfaction and expectations of parents of pre-school children with special needs and professionals who intensively participate in the creation and implementation of comprehensive early treatment of pre-school children with special needs. The results showed satisfaction from all sides in the field of cooperation and implementation of integrated early treatment. Almost everyone is of the opinion that they welcome the novelties of integrated early treatment legislation, mainly in the area of overall assistance to the affected families. However, there is a great deal of concern that points to under-trained professionals, especially educators working with children with disabilities and their families. Finally, we wrote down the guidelines for successful cooperation between professionals and the family of a child with special needs, with the aim of providing quality long-term effects in early treatment.
