Abstract

Diplomsko delo obravnava tabu temo smrt in raziskuje, kako se predšolski otrok sooča z njo. V teoretičnem uvodu je predstavljena smrt kot tabu tema, predstavljene so otrokove predstave o smrti, doživljanje smrti bližnjih oseb in žalovanje za umrlim. Nadaljujem s tem, kako otroku pomagati ob izgubi, in z vprašanji, ki jih otroci najpogosteje zastavljajo. Predstavljena je tudi literatura za pomoč vzgojiteljem, vzgojiteljicam pri obravnavi teme v vrtcu. Raziskovalni del temelji na analizi podatkov, pridobljenih z anketnim vprašalnikom, v katerem so sodelovale vzgojiteljice petih različnih vrtcev v Pomurju. Pri načrtovanju raziskovanja me je zanimalo, ali vzgojiteljice v svojem oddelku obravnavajo tabu temo smrti, kako jo obravnavajo (če jo) in pri kateri starosti otrok ter koliko se vzgojiteljice čutijo usposobljene za obravnavo te teme. Podatki so pokazali, da je po mnenju večine vzgojiteljic tema primerna za obravnavo v vseh starostnih obdobjih, a jo kljub temu večinoma obravnavajo le v primerih, kadar otroci o tem sprašujejo. Večina vzgojiteljic se za obravnavo te teme počuti le delno strokovno usposobljene, kar pa lahko vpliva tudi na to, da jim dogodek ne predstavlja pobud za nadaljnje načrtovanje dela na to temo.

Secondary title: Preschool children's facing death as a taboo issue
Secondary abstract: This Bachelor's thesis explores and discusses the taboo issue of death, focusing on how preschool children cope when faced with mortality. Death is presented as a taboo topic and child's interpretation of it, followed by different types of child's experiences of death of mourning for the death of loved ones. Then we proceed with different coping mechanisms for the child and their concerns. Literature containing coping methods for teachers in kindergarten is also presented in this thesis. The research part of the thesis is based on the analysis of the data obtained from a questionnaire in which preschool teachers from five different preschools in Pomurje participated. When designing research for thesis, attention was drawn to the nature in which educators are face and discuss taboo issues with children, and at what age they think is appropriate. Further, it was highlighted how they felt dealing with this topic. The data shows that, according to most preschool teachers, this topic is appropriate for all ages. However, in most cases, they are merely discussing the death children when question about it. To summarise, teachers feel only partially qualified to deal with topic of death, which can be also a key factor to not take an initiative to plan future assignment on pointed out issue.
