Abstract

Secondary title: ǂThe ǂinfluence of songs and counting rhymes on the recognition of rhymes in the first age period
Secondary abstract: The diploma thesis, entitled The Influence of songs and counting rhymes on the recognition of rhymes in the first age period, presents our investigation and determination of whether the progress of rhyme recognition in the first age period in the first two months occurred; as well as how much progress would be made in the control group and in the experimental group both receiving exercises that promote vocal awareness of rhymes. The theoretical part presents the development of speech, the role of the educator and parents in the speech development of children, the field of language in the Curriculum for kindergartens (1999), voice awareness, as well as rhyme recognition and susceptibility. The empirical part presents how we used pictures to check the recognition of rhymes in children of the control and experimental groups. The study involved 14 children (7 in the control group and 7 in the experimental group) attending one of the kindergartens in the Lower Savinja Valley. We were interested in how many rhymes and intruders they would find and what the difference between the initial and final testing would be. The children of the experimental group were subjected to two additional months of activities to promote voice awareness (songs and counting rhymes). The end result exceeded our expectations as the children in the experimental group made significant progress and improved their susceptibility to rhymes.
