Abstract
Naše podatke smo primerjali s podatki že opravljenih meritev v bližnjem pragozdu Rajhenavski Rog in v okoliškem gospodarskem gozdu.

Coexistence and shade- tolerance of silver fir (Abies alba Mill.) and beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) in dinaric silver fir-beech forests |
Secondary abstract: |
Dinaric fir-beech forests in Slovenia are characterized by poor recruitment of silver fir and sycamore maple to higher hight classes. In order to analyse the development of regeneration in the area Kočevski Rog, within five exclosures nearby Žaga Rog, 150 plots of size 2.25 m2 were randomly placed. Ineach plot ecological factors and density of saplings and seedlings of fir, beech and maple were inventoried. The measurements of three dominant fir and beech specimens were taken, additionally light measurement we carried out. Ourdata were compared with the data that were taken in the nearby virgin forest Rajhenav and surrounding managed forest. The differences between locations in light levels were not confirmed. The recruitment of fir and maple to higher regeneration classes was completely stopped outside the exclosures. This study is consistent with older findings about adverse effects of the high density of large herbivorous ungulates in the area on the tree regeneration composition. The difference in shade tolerance between fir and beech was determined with the use of shade tolerance indices. In most cases, the assumption that fir is more shade tolerant than beech was confirmed. |
