Abstract

Secondary title: Design procedures of micro tunnels
Secondary abstract: The purpose of the master thesis is to present some practical details and essential phases that every successful microtunneling project should follow. Trenchless technology includes various techniques for construction of new networks, as well as a renovation of existing networks under transport infrastructure such as roads and railroads. Trenchless technologies allow a minimal interference to surroundings, allow also traffic during installation, and in some cases are also less expensive compared to open cut trench excavation. In the theoretical part of the master’s thesis, we briefly described microtunneling, gave analytical bases for calculations, and summarized the parameters affecting micro tunnels. We provided guidelines for project design and execution of pipe jacking. In the practical part, we calculated an example which includes a calculation of tunnel face pressure, face load, bore stability, ground closure, ground settlement, pipe friction and pipe joint loading. In the end, we made a comparison between different parameters.
