Abstract

Secondary title: Prison staff - prisoners relationships: department murska sobota
Secondary abstract: In our diploma thesis, we present a survey about prison staff-prisoners relationships in department Murska Sobota. Prison sentence is the most important way for punishment and social control, where prisoners are deprived of their basic human rights. And that is why prison workers are very important in a prisoner's life. For prisoners are important that there is a polite, respectful and fair relationship between them and prison workers. Good relationships enable them to live as best as possible inside the institution. To help us define and understand their relationships, we did a survey in September 2019 in department Murska Sobota, with structured interviews for prisoners and questionnaires for prison workers. The purpose of our survey was to find out the relationships between prisoners and prison staff, to find out the impact of procedural fairness and respect on the quality of relationships and trust. We want to find out the impact on the perception of the legitimacy of prison staff and the impact of good relationships in the need to use the forced funds. Research results show us the procedural fairness of the prison staff affects the good relationships between prisoners and prison workers. At the same time, results show us that good interpersonal relationships influence the positive perception of the prison staff legitimacy. The survey also shows that respect and justice in the procedures against prisoners have a positive effect on the trust of prisoners. At the same time, good relationships are the base for a smaller number of offenses and, consequently, a smaller need to use the forced founds.
