Abstract

Secondary abstract: At the beginning of the thesis we will introduce the Police force as the body within the Ministry of internal affairs. As in any major organization, the Police Force is confronted with different forms of work, as well as they must co-exist with different departments, amongst which the nature of work and the need for equipment are very different. One of these segments includes the vehicles. Considering that the whole World is globally committed to reducing CO2 emissions and heavy particles from motor vehicle's fossil fuels (petrol, oil), we must take into account the results of researches that vehicles are one of the major air pollutants. Consequently, we decided to make a comparison between the use of fossil fuel vehicles and electric vehicles, that is, those vehicles that are primarily more friendly to people's lives and also to nature. The vehicles that are currently used by the Slovenian Police will be presented further along the thesis. Thus, it is found that the Police are currently using only gasoline and diesel vehicles, with an average of 80 km of vehicle patrol made by two police officers per 12-hour workday. However, the work takes place for 24 hours a day, which means that the vehicle is in a long service. According to this facts, it becomes clear that groups that do not take emergency events or certain groups of police detectives and police leading personnel could use renewable energy vehicles (gas, electricity, hybrids) to carry out their work, which would greatly help to reduce pollution of our atmosphere, and over time it may contribute to cheaper vehicles. In the thesis we will introduce Ljubljana Vič Police Station, their work environment, moreover their means of transportation. Among other things, the conclusion is followed by the presentation of the results of a research paper - a survey conducted among the employees of the Ljubljana Vič Police Station, as well as the proposal to replace diesel-powered vehicle with an electric-powered one.
