Abstract
Nameščanje v ustrezno prilagojen stol otroku omogoča boljše vzdrževanje položaja glave in trupa, lažje dihanje, zmanjša spastičnost v mišicah udov, izboljša uporabo rok med sedenjem in spodbuja sodelovanje v različnih aktivnostih. Metode dela: Uporabili smo kvantitativno in kvalitativno metodo zbiranja podatkov. V kvantitativnem delu raziskave smo uporabili vprašalnik za oceno zadovoljstva s pripomočki (Quebec User Evaluation of Satisfaction with assistive Technology, QUEST 2.0).

Assessment of parents' satisfaction with the use of adjusted chairs for children with movement impairment |
Secondary abstract: |
Introduction: Impaired mobility in children may be the result of congenital or acquired impairment of the locomotor apparatus, central or peripheral nervous system. Impairments are reflected as impaired ability to move and control the posture, including difficulty in maintaining the sitting position. These children require customized chairs to get the most comfortable sitting position, that enables them to engage in daily life activities. Placing the child in a properly adjusted chair allows him/her to better maintain head and trunk position, better breathing, reduce spasticity in the muscles of the limbs, improve the use of hands while sitting, and encourage participation in various activities. Purpose: In the study, we wanted to assess the level of parent satisfaction with the use of customized chairs for children and satisfaction with related services. We were also interested in which of the satisfaction items is most important to parents and what, according to the parents of the children, is gained by using a customized chair. Methods: We used a quantitative and qualitative data collection method. In the quantitative part of the survey, we used the Quebec User Evaluation of Satisfaction with assistive Technology (QUEST 2.0). We obtained an assessment of satisfaction with the use of customized chairs and related services from 22 parents whose children have been using the chair for at least three months. In the qualitative part of the survey, we conducted four semi-structured interviews with parents. Results: In the quantitative part of the survey, we discovered that most parents (14) were very satisfied with the use of customized chairs and related services. The highest rated item of satisfaction was the performance of a customized chair (mean score 4.9). The parents were least satisfied with the weight of the customized chair (mean score 3.8). Parents believed that safety and ease of use were paramount when using a customized chair. Through qualitative research, we found three important categories: the differences between installing on your lap and using custom chairs, the differences between a normal chair and a custom chair, and contribution. Discussion and conclusion: Parents are very happy with the use of customized chairs for children and related services. They believed that the use of customized chairs can affect the child's performance of the activity, as this can enhance skills that increase participation in activities. The results obtained provide useful information for occupational therapists working in the field of comprehensive therapy programs for children with movement disorders. With the help of established lower parent satisfaction ratings using customized chairs, they will be able to come up with suggestions for improvements for these aids in the future. |
