Abstract

Endoskopske preiskovalne metode so diagnostične in terapevtske. Namenjene so pregledu votlih organov in jih izvajamo skozi naravne telesne odprtine. Najpogosteje uporabljene metode so ultrazvočna preiskava, rentgenske nativne in kontrastne preiskave, računalniška tomografija in magnetnoresonančna tomografija. Namen: Namen dela je prikazati pomen in vlogo dela medicinske sestre v pripravi in izvedbi preiskovalnih metod na področju kirurgije, opis primernega pristopa do pacienta glede na starost, spol in druge opazovane dejavnike. Literaturo smo s pomočjo ključnih besed iskali v slovenskem in angleškem jeziku v podatkovnih bazah CINAHL, Medline (PubMed) in COBISS.SI.

Secondary title: Investigative techniques in the field of surgery and the role of a nurse in the preparation and monitoring of the patient
Secondary abstract: Introduction: The investigative techniques in the field of surgery are divided into two main groups named endoscopic and imaging methods. The main difference between them is that endoscopic methods are used for inspection of internal hollow organs, tissue biopsy, as well as treatment, while imaging methods are used for creating images of the body and internal organs using x-ray, ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging. Purpose: The purpose of the diploma work is to desribe both methods, using scientific literature. The main focus is the role of the nurse in each type of investigation technique and what are the appropriate approaches to the patient based on their condition, age, gender and other factors. Methods: We used descriptive methods based on literature review in English and Slovenian language, we used a timeline from 2013 to 2019 in the databases CINAHL, Medline (PubMed) and COBISS.SI. Results: It’s nurses job to prepare patients for medical examinations. This means that the patients must be physically and mentally prepared for the following interventions. Also every patient must be acquainted with all the necessary information about procedure. In the field of imaging examination methods nurse must have a good knowledge of ionizing radiation protection and all aspects of safety, including in safety of the prevention of infections. Discussion and conclusion: The nurse, who, with her professionalism, knowledge and time dedicated to the patient tries to reconcile stressful events and properly prepare the patient for the procedure. Based on experience and recognition of the patient's character, the nurse can respond appropriately, giving the patient a sense of care and security.
