Abstract

Secondary title: Patriarchal inferiority of women in islam and catholicism
Secondary abstract: From the beginning, women in society were always represented as "the second" and those who were pushed on the edge. The same stands for many religions across the world. The main topic of this work is patriarchal inferiority of women. How is this process seen in everyday life and religion itself. I focused on two main world religions, Islam and Catholicism. I wanted to research, how is this process presented in both religions, how did it affect women over time, how is the topic viewed in specific sacred texts and generally what this means for women in society. Patriarchal inferiorty can be interestingly represented through clothes in both religions. Through history in sacred books the women have been ordered how to dress and behave. Thus, in the last part of this work, I focused mostly what kind of effect do the clothes have on patriarchy, and if it is true, that this plays an important role in the womenʼs "choices". Is veiling a religionʼs controlling instrument to produce inferiority of women in society?
