diplomsko delo
Abstract
Telesne modifikacije so ena najstarejših oblik okraševanja lastnega telesa. V prvem delu diplomskega dela sem orisala teoretske okvirje, kjer sem sociologijo povezala s telesom in kasneje opredelila in pojasnila pojem modifikacije telesa. Podrobneje so razložene tri prakse - prebadanje, tetovaže in estetska kirurgija, na katere sem se skozi diplomsko delo bolj osredotočila.

Attitude and perceptions of visible body modifications in relation to employment between the younger and older generation |
Secondary abstract: |
Body modification traces back as the oldest form of altering body appearance. The meaning of body modification has changed throughout the history, but the desire for modification remains present. Nowadays, they are widely popular, but can easily become an obstacle during the employment process. In the first part of this paper, I explain the theoretical background of body modification as well as connection between sociology and body. I mostly focused on tattoos, piercings and plastic surgery, and explained them more into details. I also focus on body language communication and apply that on the problematic of body modifications in employment process. In the second part of this paper I presented the results of my quantitative research, describe the methodology and conclude that younger generations do think about the consequences of body modifications and that older generations more often follow the norms of perceived "normal look". I can also answer on my research question, whether there is a difference between the perception of younger and older generations on body modifications and employment. Results show that older generations are more skeptical and do not approve of body modifications, as much as younger generations. |
