Blaž Hameršak (Author), Adriana Magdovski (Mentor)

Abstract

Secondary title: Improvisation in the 18th century music for keyboard instruments
Secondary abstract: The purpose of the master thesis is to present the development of baroque improvisation for keyboard instruments and the influence of stylistic innovations on later periods in music. In the thesis, I examined the performance techniques of improvisation, types of musical forms in which improvisation occurs most often, and the development of parallel musical approaches that encouraged the development of improvisation. With the help of historical sources and the musical works of the then composers, I examined the influence of baroque improvisation on modern piano technique and on the development of the instruments. Finally, I studied some important textbooks and pedagogical works of the then masters of piano improvisation, which significantly influenced modern approaches to instrument teaching.
