Secondary abstract: | The goal of this thesis was to determine distribution of air flow on distributor plate of a laboratory scale fluidized bed granulator. We wanted to determine whether the change in air flow rate influences the fraction of air flow passing through distinct sections of distributor plate, which we divided based on the diameter of the openings in the plate. To determine air flow distribution in an empty granulator we performed 6 numerical simulations of air flow using AVL Fire code (computational fluid dynamics) and 6 two way coupled AVL Fire—XPS (computational fluid dynamics—discrete element method) simulations of air flow with particles in the case of granulator filled with particles. We found that air flow rate influences the distribution o fair flow on distributor plate, particularly in the case of granulator filled with particles. |
