delo diplomskega projekta

Abstract

Secondary title: Financial literacy and consequences of insufficient financial literacy
Secondary abstract: Financial literacy is the ability of an individual to understand and the ability to successfully use a variety of financial skills and instruments related to personal financial management. Financial literacy also includes the ability to create a realistic and effective personal budget, and to invest money in investments for the future. The task of financial literacy is to contribute to personal financial independence and, based on knowledge and information, to help individuals make the right financial decisions. In the diploma project individual sets of financial literacy are defined in terms of their characteristics and how they affect the long-term financial condition of individuals. Based on the methodology for measuring financial literacy according to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), we analyze in more detail the report on adult financial literacy prepared by the aforementioned organization. We also study financial literacy in Slovenia. In the diploma project, we find that the world's population has insufficient basic financial knowledge, which can affect not only an individual's life but also an individual economy. In the paper, we also analyze national education programs on the field of financial literacy of the population, as well as examine the tools that individuals can use to help on the path to financial independence. At the end, we also assess the consequences of lack of financial literacy.
