Abstract

Z anketiranjem študentov vseh stopenj študija zdravstvenih ved in vseh stopenj študija elektrotehnike, računalništva in informatike smo pridobili podatke za empirični del raziskave.

Secondary title: Stigmatization of people with psoriasis among university students
Secondary abstract: Introduction: Psoriasis is a chronic, incurable and non-communicable disease which affects approximately 2% of the population. It is one of the most stigmatised skin diseases, making patients frequently rejected by the society. Negative behaviour towards the disease has an important impact on all aspects of psoriasis patient's life. In order to reduce stigmatisation it is important to increase awareness. Methods: Descriptive method was used in theoretical part of this research. Students on all levels of Health Science programmes and students on all levels of Computer and Information Science programmes were surveyed in order to obtain data for empirical part of the research. Results: 133 students of Health Sciences and Computer and Information Science took part in the research. It was found with data analysis that 87% of all surveyed students believe that psoriasis is a non-communicable disease. It was also determined that 95% of students of Health Sciences and 82% of students of Computer and Information Science would be friends with people with psoriasis. Conclusion: Study course plays an important part in attitude towards people with psoriasis, consequently the students of Health Sciences got slightly better results. Previous interactions with people with psoriasis also play an important part in their attitude, consequently the students who have known people with psoriasis before got slightly better results. It is important to increase awareness on psoriasis among general public and to do more research regarding psoriasis and stigmatization.
