Abstract

Namen diplomskega dela je bralcu približati MXene, družino 2D materialov, s širokim spektrom uporabe. Uvodoma sem predstavil definicijo in lastnosti MXenov. V nadaljevanju sem opisal sintezne metode, pri čemer sem se osredotočil predvsem na metodo sinteze od zgoraj navzdol, saj je le-ta najbolj raziskana in uporabljena. Komercialna uporaba opisanih materialov še ni na voljo, predvsem zaradi ekonomičnosti procesov. Kljub temu sem opisal različne primere aplikacij MXenov na več področjih, kot je na primer shranjevanje električne energije, uporaba v senzoriki in uporaba v membranskih separacijah. MXen se največkrat uporabljajo kot sestavni del kompozitov, saj je samostojna uporaba trenutno predraga ali pa premalo raziskana. V zaključku sem podal pozitivna pričakovanja glede širokega spektra uporabe MXenov na raznih področjih.

Secondary title: Synthesis and applications of MXenes
Secondary abstract: The purpose of the graduation thesis is to introduce MXene, family of 2D materials, with broad application. The document begins with definition of MXenes and their properties. The remaining introduction chapters outline current production techniques, with an emphasis on the top down synthesis method, which is to date the most researched used method of production. Commercial use of the described materials is currently not available, mostly because of economy of the production. The remainder of the thesis describes the application of MXenes in multiple areas, such as energy storage, sensors and membrane separation. MXenes are usually used in composites, because their stand-alone use is currently too expensive or not explored enough. In its conclusion, the thesis presents positive expectations of a wide range of MXenes usage in different areas.
