Abstract

Motivirani in zadovoljni zaposleni so temelj uspešne organizacije.

Secondary title: Motivation and Job Satisfaction in the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Slovenia
Secondary abstract: Motivated and satisfied employees are the foundation of a successful organization. Managers also have a big role to play in this, as they must be aware of the importance of the well-being of their employees at work. However, the level of motivation and satisfaction can drop quickly, so it is important that a high level of job satisfaction is not only achieved but also maintained. In the task, the concept of motivation, the related theories, and the factors that affect it were studied first. The meaning of job satisfaction is defined below. Because motivation and satisfaction interact and influence organizational culture and climate, these two phenomena are also defined. Later, the public administration and the Ministry of the Interior are presented and described, where their operation is also explained. On the basis of theoretical starting points, a survey was designed to determine the views of employees on motivation and job satisfaction at the Ministry of the Interior. 96 respondents participated. Employees were found to be generally motivated in their work. The level of their motivation is most influenced by interesting work and relationships within the team and with the management. The area of job satisfaction was also researched, where a similar finding was found. Satisfaction is most influenced by the content of work and relationships with colleagues. Continuity of employment and safety at work are the factors with which employees are most satisfied, while the possibility of professional development (training and education) and information with current events within the organization are factors with which employees are not most satisfied. The key finding is that employees are mostly motivated, satisfied, and happy to come to work.
