Abstract

Secondary title: Simulation of grain structure of aluminum alloys with cellular automata method
Secondary abstract: Simulation of grain structure and microsegregation of multicomponent aluminum alloys during solidification is developed and numerically implemented. Input temperature history for microstructure development is obtained from macroscopic simulation environment for semi-continuous casting. Heterogenous nucleation is taken into account, as well as anisotropic surface energy. The solution process is based on combination of cellular automata and finite volume method. Using linearized phase diagram, qualitative agreement of simulation results and experimental data for alloy EN AW-2011 is obtained.
