Abstract

Secondary title: Sexual violence in contemporary Slovenian and European plays
Secondary abstract: Sexual violence is known and often still a taboo topic, of which we do not talk about. This kind of violence can be found in the literature, but almost no research is done on sexual violence in the literature, especially in plays. This master thesis brings an analysis of relevant contemporary Slovenian and European plays from the opus of the most important and recognizable playwrights, which theme or motive is sexual violence. Through thematic analysis, comparison and overview, thesis examines how authors discuss sexual violence, whether it is planned to be staged or it is only retrospectively reported, who the victim and the perpetrator are and what kind of the relationship is between them, where sexual violence takes place, what is the author's attitude toward this theme or motive and if texts were staged. In the last twenty years, many authors have been discussing sexual violence. In Slovenia mostly as a motive that supports the main idea of a play. The texts are very diverse and they present different types of sexual violence, mostly in a realistic style.
