Abstract
Na Oddelku za geologijo se nahaja ena najpomembnejših sistematskih in študijskih zbirk mineralov, kamnin in fosilov v Sloveniji. V zbirki je več evidentiranih vendar nedoločenih vzorcev naravnega kamna, izmed katerih smo jih izbrali 15 in jih natančno identificirali. Preiskovani vzorci so bili iz magmatskega dela zbirke kamnin.
Pregled vzorcev smo opravili z makroskopskim opazovanjem in mikroskopsko analizo z optičnim mikroskopom pri polarizirani svetlobi. Geokemično sestavo smo določili z rentgensko fluorescenčno spektroskopijo (XRF) in masno spektroskopijo z induktivno sklopljeno plazmo (ICP-MS). Vzorce smo klasificirali s pomočjo TAS in QAP klasifikacije.

characterization of natural stone specimens in the geology collection of the Department of geology |
Secondary abstract: |
Department of geology holds one of the most important systematic and study collections of minerals, rocks and fossils in Slovenia. There are several recorded but undetermined samples of natural stone, of which we selected 15 for ditailed characterisation. The samples were from the igneous part of the collection.
The examination of the samples was performed by macroscopic prospecting and microscopic analysis using an optical microscope under linearly polarized light. The geochemical composition was determined with X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF) and inductive coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Samples were classified using TAS and QAP classification.
The examined natural stone samples were divided into 7 groups based on their geochemical composition and TAS classification. Samples 14690, 14691A, 14691B, 14695, 14697, 14701 and 14703 belong to the group of granites, samples 15689 and 14693 to the group of gabbro diorites, sample 14694 to the group of granodiorites, sample 14692 belongs to the group of monzonites, sample 14698 to the group of quartz monzonite, sample 14700 belongs to the group of rhyolites and sample 14699 is on the field boundary of granite, granodiorite and quartz monzonite. Samples 14696 and 14702 were recognized as migmatites. Depending on the geochemical composition, the samples in individual groups do not differ significantly. |
