Abstract

Cilj magistrskega dela je bil izdelava novega dozimetra za merjenje absorbirane doze sevanja beta radonovih kratkoživih produktov. V delu sem najprej pojasnila ozadje pomembnosti radonovih kratkoživih produktov in delovanja termoluminiscenčnih dozimetrov. Nato sem opisala zasnovo novih ohišij termolumiscenčnih dozimetrov Beti 1 in Beti 2 za merjenje doze sevanja beta. V osrednjem delu naloge so predstavljene meritve in rezultati, ki sem jih dobila z novima dozimetroma. Z upoštevanjem dodatnih meritev koncentracije aktivnosti radona sem uspešno napovedala ravnotežni faktor med radonom in njegovimi kratkoživimi produkti v zaprtih prostorih. Izdelano ohišje dozimetrov Beti in izračuni ravnotežnih faktorjev iz tega magistrskega dela so obetaven začetek za nadaljnje raziskave absorbirane doze sevanja beta in določanja koncentracije aktivnosti kratkoživih radonovih produktov ter ravnotežnega faktorja med njimi in radonom.

Secondary title: The design of a dosemeter for measuring the absorbed beta-radiation dose of short-lived radon decay products
Secondary abstract: The objective of the thesis was to construct a new dosemeter for measuring the absorbed beta-radiation dose of short-lived radon decay products. First, the importance of the background of radon decay products and the basics of termoluminescent dosemeters are explained. Then, the basic concepts of two new termoluminescent dosemeters are described. In the main part of the thesis the measurements and the results obtained with the two new dosemeters are presented. Considering additional measurements of radon activity concentration, the equilibrium factor between radon and its progenies for closed places was succesfully estimated. New Beti dosemeters and equilibrium factor calculations presented in this thesis represent a promising beginning of further research of absorbed dose of beta radiation and determining the activity concentration of radon decay products, as well as the equilibrium factors between them and radon.
