magistrsko delo
Abstract

Polyamorous male same-sex relationships in Slovenia |
Secondary abstract: |
Given the prevailing heteronormativity that society has imposed on us since primary socialization through pedagogical, educational, religious and media contents and through, the consequently expected, thinking and behavioral patterns, questioning the traditional sexual binary and monogamous relationships seems to be a very sensitive topic. As social science researches in the 1950s began to engage in studying various sexual practices - although some of them have remained a taboo in the public sphere to this day - and questioning practicing both monogamy and polyamory, the field of discussions on the manifestations, characteristics and frequency of polyamory also extended to the field of homosexual population. The master's thesis thus problematizes the differences between heterosexual intimate-relationships and homosexual intimate-relationships and compares lives of monogamous "traditional" heterosexual couples with lifestyles of polyamorous homosexual couples. Referring to theorists such as Giddens, Foucault, Baumeister, Schippers and LaSala, whose research findings explain the reasons for frequent occurrence of open intimate relationships between homosexual couples, the master's thesis also refers to qualitative data obtained through interviewing five individuals with the experience of a polyamorous intimate-relationship, and therefore represents an important research on polyamorous male same-sex relationships within Slovenian context. |
