Abstract

Metode dela: V diplomskem delu smo uporabili deskriptivno metodo sistematičnega pregleda domače in tuje strokovne in znanstvene literature. Uporabili smo oddaljen dostop do baz podatkov PubMed, Cinahl, Medline, oddaljeni dostop Digitalne knjižnice Ljubljana in Nursing ethics: Sage journals.

Secondary title: Ethics in nursing in the field of psychiatry
Secondary abstract: Introduction: Ethics is a philosophical discipline that addresses the criteria of human desire and conduct. The word ethics" is also strongly related to the health field. Purpose: We wanted to research ethics in nursing in the field of psychiatry and present ethics in nursing in the field of psychiatry from a legal, personal, interpersonal and educational point of view. We also wanted to investigate the impact of education on ethical functioning and nursing work in the field of psychiatry, the perspectives of nurses and the opinions of patients with mental disorders. Methods: In the diploma thesis, we used a descriptive method and a systematic review of the domestic and foreign professional and scientific literature. We initially limited the time-required literature to the 10-year period, from year 2008 to year 2018, which we later expanded to 1976⠒2020 due to certain relevant literature. We used the following keywords and phrases in finding the literature: nursing, psychiatrics, mental health, ethics, restraint. We used the remote access to database PubMed, Cinahl, Medline, the Ljubljana Digital Library remote access and Nursing ethics: Sage journals. We also used the Google web browser, the NUK-network and the Slovenian Literary Dictionary. Results: Ethics education influences nurses' awareness of the importance of ethics in attending to patients during their studies and also later in their work. Increased competence and confidence to work with patients in the field of mental health are aided by direct work experience. Nurses see patient involvement as an important factor affecting treatment outcomes. However, patients' experience of health care may be positive or negative. Discussion and conclusion: Occupational beliefs and philosophy of nurses in psychiatry often influence the level of autonomy of patients. Nurses in psychiatry are an important and necessary link in the field of mental health care. The ethical dimensions and behaviours that we present in the thesis have a significant impact on their professional work and relationships with patients.
