Abstract

Uvod: Večkratno uporabljene rehabilitacijske pripomočke je treba po uporabi pravilno reprocesirati, upoštevajoč določene higienske predpise in standarde. Procesi reprocesiranja so odgovornost in temeljna naloga vseh zdravstvenih delavcev, čeprav motiviranost zdravstvenih delavcev največ vpliva na izvajanje že omenjenih procesov.

Secondary title: Hygiene of rehabilitation equipment in healthcare institutions
Secondary abstract: Introduction: Reusable rehabilitation equipments should be properly reprocessed after use, taking into account certain hygiene regulations and standards. Reprocessing processes are the responsibility and fundamental task of all the healthcare workers (HCs), although the motivation of HCs has the greatest impact on the implementation of the already mentioned processes. Research methods: In the theoretical part, a review of professional and scientific literature was performed in the PubMed, Web of Science and Science Direct databases according to inclusion/exclusion criteria and in the COBISS and Um: nik bibliographic system. A descriptive method was used. For the empirical part, we contucted a study based on the effectiveness of disinfectants. Results: In the research, we sampled very different devices in two institutions, and these were disinfected with different disinfectants after use. Based on the performed experiment, we found that disinfectants were differently effective on different materials, and in general, disinfectants were partially effective. However, their effectiveness is affected by many factors. Disscussion and Conclusion: Inadequately reprocessed devices are a source of health-related infections (HCAIs) that are an indicator of quality patient care. HCs need to be aware that by properly performing reprocessing procedures, they significantly prevent the development of HCAIs and the consequent mortality of hospitalized patients.
